LOUIS VAN GAAL has confirmed that he intends to make Ryan Giggs his new No.2 at Manchester United.
Van Gaal is expected to be announced as the new United boss this week after agreeing a £7m-a-season deal at Old Trafford.
The Holland boss was expected to bring Patrick Kluivert to Manchester as his assistant at the deposed champions. But as Starsport exclusively revealed last week, Van Gaal has had a change of heart and will offer Giggs the role instead.
Giggs has been in caretaker-charge following last month's sacking of David Moyes in the wake of United's woeful season.
The Old Trafford legend has promised to make a decision on his future next week, but is expected to accept the role of working alongside Van Gaal.
Van Gaal admits he likes to keep an existing member of the coaching staff with him when he starts work at a new club.
The former Bayern Munich, Ajax and Barcelona boss did this with Herman Kerland when he took charge of the German outfit and helped bring through future stars like Thomas Muller, Holger Badstuber and David Alaba.
He realises Giggs will have a huge role to play in helping him rebuild the team and will provide a crucial link between him and the dressing room.
